The World University Games selection procedures and team management are done by a private group of volunteers under the auspices of, and, in accordance with US Speedskating’s rules, policies and procedures. The group also seeks to raise funds to support athletes attending the UGames.
The ASE supports these volunteer efforts to promote and send athletes to the UGames. The Ugames offer athletes a chance to pursue meaningful goals and compete in events to assist in their growth and development as skaters and people. Because of this, the UGames help to improve recruitment and retention in the sport and thus make the sport of speedskating better.
Therefore, since many of our athletes are college-aged students who will directly benefit by participating in the UGames, we actively seek ways to support the efforts to send a US team to the UGames wherever possible, like providing this internet home, helping promote the UGames to US speedskaters, assisting with writing regulations and selection procedures, and, fundraising.
Come back to this space in the future as it is developed with information about the UGames to learn about how to qualify, where the Games are, and more.
